As a landscaping company, our teams encounter all sorts of properties in a variety of conditions. We also have to work with many different types of property management, from HOA boards to local municipalities. This variation can often lead to different challenges, as we work around the current condition of the property. Oftentimes previous landscaping affects future installation and maintenance. Many of our clients switch to Pezza after a bad experience with a competitor. Whatever the case may be, you should be educated on your landscape, and how it affects the future of your property maintenance. With our wealth of history and working with so many individuals and properties over the last 50 years, we have gathered five landscaping tips that can help you make our job easier. These are merely simple DIY landscape tips on ways that you can preemptively smooth out the landscaping process.

One of the Easy Landscape Tips: Remove Debris from Your Lawn

This is one of the landscape tips that are easy and very helpful to keep in mind. If we are coming out to do work on your property, a great way to save time and money is by engaging in your very own “spring” clean-up. By this we just mean taking the time to ensure that nothing loose is in the yard, enabling a clean-cut, fertilization, or aeration. This debris can be variable, with anything from unnecessary rocks, to leaf piles able to cause problems. Anything inorganic as well, such as plastic bags or household trash, should also be removed. This will do more than clear the way for your landscaper, it will keep your landscape even healthier.

Create a Compost Pile

As we discussed the removal of debris, much of your organic debris can actually be used as soil additive compost. This does not necessarily directly affect our ability to perform jobs on your property, but anything that improves the health of your landscape helps us. This way when we plant on your property, we are able to do so in composted, healthy soil.

Keep Track of When Services are Performed

If we haven’t always been your primary landscape provider, we may not always know the last time service was performed on your property. This is important as when it comes to services such as fertilization, timing is everything. Furthermore, mulch is a good example, as it needs to be replaced every year or two, so it is good to keep track of when it was installed. Staying organized allows for the most efficient landscape service possible.

Water Your LawnSprinklers watering the lawn

An essential nutrient needed by every lawn and landscape, you would be amazed by the number of individuals who lack proper watering practices. Your lawn needs an inch and a half of water per week, ideally done in the early morning, before the heat has time to evaporate the standing water. This is much more important during the summer months. Once again, a healthier lawn makes our job much easier.

Pay Attention to your Property

As the individual who spends the most time on your property, you can make our job easier by actively looking for and spotting issues that may arise, and communicating this to our team. We also will be actively determining risks, and scouting out potential problems, but an extra set of eyes always helps, especially to catch obscure issues early on.
